Presently working as Professor & Head, Department of Plant Pathology, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat) since 22nd July 2007. The author has 35 years experience in teaching, research and transfer of technology in Plant Pathology related to plant disease management.
Taught various courses of Plant Pathology in UG and PG prescribed by ICAR, New Delhi, including advanced courses viz. Biological Control of Plant Diseases, Molecular Plant Pathology, Plant Virology, etc. Acted Head of Plant Pathology of GAU and AAU for execution of activities related to academic work i.e. UG & PG teaching, appointments of the teachers in different cadres, etc. Guided 5 Ph. D. and 13 M. Sc. Students in the field of Plant Pathology. Published 32 research articles; 95 popular articles; 1 book; 8 book chapters; 4 UG Practical Manuals, 15 Bulletin, 10 training Manuals, etc. and presented more than 45 papers in symposium and conferences. Established Biological Control Research Laboratory with RKVY funded grant of Rs. 124 lakhs and Advanced Centre of Plant Viruses. Generated fund from 25 Projects and sale of T. viride as transfer of technology. A number of farmers benefitted and fully convinced for success of T. viride in the management of seed and soil borne diseases of crops. Acted as Principal Investigator/ Nodal Officer of a total 25 projects viz. AICRP on Seed Technology Research (NSP) Crops & Lead Centre of Seed borne Viruses; State Plan Projects: Management of Pl. Viruses of crops; Bioagent Research; Mushroom Cultivation; Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), DST, GoG; NATP; RKVY; NHM (GOI); Syngenta; Rallis India; Bayer Crop Science; ADAMA India Ltd; Indofil, United Phosphorus Ltd.; E.I. Du Pont India Ltd.; Rallis India Ltd.; Chemchura; Cheminova; GSP Crop Science; Excel; Meghmani, etc. Generated 23 technologies for the plant disease management and recommended to the farmers.
As Advance Training on Seed Pathology for Capacity Building by DSR (ICAR), Mau during 2013; ICAR sponsored Winter School on ‘Diagnostics, Genomics, implications and integrated management of plant pathogens’ during 2011; Winter School on “Detection Molecular characterization, Implications and Management of Plant Pathogens “2010; Short Course on “Seed–borne pathogens, their detection, implications and management” during Feb. 2009.
