Significant Achievements:

Technologies developed:

·        Enhanced yield of Pleurotus eryngii (king oyster mushroom) using locally available casing materials.

·        Standardized cultivation technology of Ganoderma lucidum, a medicinal mushroom on wheat straw supplemented with rice bran (10%).

·        Standardized cultivation technology of Agrocybe aegerita (black poplar mushroom) on wheat straw supplemented with wheat bran (10%).

Involvement in varietal development

  • VL Dhan 68 (VL 31611) (IET 22283) - The variety was evaluated for leaf blast, neck blast and other diseases under irrigated transplanted conditions. It showed highly resistant reaction to leaf and neck blast diseases under field conditions while under controlled conditions, moderately to highly resistant response was observed.
  • Vivek Dhan 157 (VL 8302) (IET 22292) - The variety was evaluated for leaf blast, neck blast and other diseases under rainfed upland conditions. It showed highly resistant reaction to leaf and neck blast diseases under field conditions while under controlled conditions, moderately to highly resistant response was observed.

·        Vivek Matar 13 (VP 907)- Early maturity, Hybridization (VP 272 / Arkel) followed by pedigree method, Yield: 115 q/ha (green pod)

·        Vivek Matar 14 (VP 1018) - Medium maturity & resistant to powdery mildew, Hybridization (PC 531 / Pusa Pragati) followed by pedigree method, Yield: 125 q/ha (green pod)

·        Vivek Matar 15 (VP 1208)- Medium maturity& moderately resistant to powdery mildew, Hybridization (PC 531 / Arkel) followed by pedigree method, Yield: 128 q/ha (green pod)

·        VL Soya 89-Suitable for timely sown rainfed conditions of Northern Hill Zone (Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh), developed from the cross VLS 47/EC 361364, resistant to frog eye leaf spot, bacterial pustules and pod blight disease.

·        VL Matar 61- Tall type field pea variety VL Matar 61 was notified for cultivation for timely sown rainfed condition of Uttarakhand hills. This high yielding (average yield: 1,130 kg/ha) variety developed from a cross between 'DDR 23/VL 1'. It has a yield superiority of 11.54% over the best check Pant Pea 14 and 16.37% over VL Matar 42, which was the national and state check for more than a decade. It matures in 152-156 days and moderately resistant against wilt, powdery mildew, aphid incidence, pod damage and leaf minor damage.
