Research Areas: Virology & Plant Pathology; Molecular Plant Pathology, Host-Pathogen Interaction, Molecular Diagnosis, Biocontrol-Agents: Biological Management of Fungal Pathogens.

Contribution: Worked on fungal, bacterial and viral diseases of ornamental crops. Characterized many important fungal pathogens i.e, Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. gladioli, Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, Myrothecium roridum, Alternaria spp., Cercospora spp., Pestalotiopsis spp., Diplocarpon rosae, Septoria spp., Nigrospora spp., Curvularia spp., Stagnospora spp. etc. infecting ornamental crops. Isolated, characterized and evaluated the bio-efficacy of native isolates of Trichoderma asperellum (Bio-control agent) from rhizospheric soil of gladiolus for the management of corm rot of gladiolus. Developed and standardized PCR based molecular diagnostics for viruses infecting ornamental plants i.e, Bean yellow mosaic virus in gladiolus, Amaryllis potyvirus in amaryllis and Tuberose mild mottle virus in tuberose and Cucumber mosaic virus and Bacilliform DNA virus (Badnavirus) infecting Jasmine. Developed leaf sap based simplified RT-RPA assay against the CYVCV in Kinnow mandarin and other citrus species. Developed bioinformatics pipeline for virome analysis of citrus crops and plum.
