Birth & Educations: Borne in Paraur
village, Tehsil Palampur, District Kangra (HP) did 10+2 (Science) from Government
Senior Secondary School, Nagrota Bagwan, District Kangra (HP), B. Sc. (Agri, 1994),
M.Sc. (Plant Pathology, 1997) and Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from CSKHPKV,
Palampur in 2000.
Positions hold: Joined at Krishi
Vigyan Kendra, Hamirpur at Bara (HP) as Assistant Extension Specialist in 2003-2006
after that he joined at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lahaul & Spiti (HP) under
CSKHPKV, Palampur as Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Pathology) in 2006-2015. Later
he served as Programme Coordinator at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hamirpur at Bara (HP) 2015-2022). Now in
2022, he has joined as Extension Specialist (Plant Pathology) in the department
of Plant Pathology, CSKHPKV, Palampur. He is also a member of Board of Studies.
Now he is in the post of Programme Director (CMRT) cum ES (Plant Pathology).
Awards/Honours: Received 3rd Prize in annual workshop of KVKs at Sher-e-Kashmir
University of Agriculture Science and Technology Kashmir in 2004. Then also got
3rd Prize in exhibition laid at state level workshop of North Zone Zonal
(Zone-I) held at CSKHPKV, in 2012. Received appreciation letter from Zonal
Project Director, Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-I, PAU, Ludhiana for
successful organization of 7th National Conference of KVKs -2012. He also
received certificate of Honour for poster presentation in the conference on
“Doubling farmers’ Income: Challenge and Strategies” at CSKHPKV, Palampur on
2018. He also credited with 110 success stories on doubling farmer’s income to
Zonal Project Unit (Zone-1), Ludhiana
Fellow: Life Member of three scientific societies i.e. Indian
Phytopathological Society (IPS), IARI, New Delhi, Indian Society of Mycology
and Plant Pathology (ISMPP), Udaipur (Rajasthan), Indian Society of Plant
Pathologists (ISOPP), PAU, Ludhiana.
Research Areas: Mycology with specialization mushroom
cultivation technology especially in Oyster mushroom. Plant bacteriology with
special reference to bacterial wilt of solanaceous crops.
Significant scientific contributions to Plant
Pathology: Published more than
50 research papers in the field of Mycology and Plant Bacteriology, 13 booklets,
3 book chapters, 3 research based articles, 51 popular articles and 42
pamphlets. He has credited with 1 wheat double haploid variety (DH114). So far he has guided 3 M.Sc. students as a
Chairperson, 10 students as Co-Chairperson and member. He has handled 7
externally funded projects of ICAR, DBT and RKVY. He has Prepares and executed
Strategic Research and Extension Plan under ATMA project in Himachal Pradesh.
He has played the major role in crop diversification and identification of
seabuckthorn diseases in Lahaul & Spiti, a dry temperate zone of Himachal Pradesh.
